Malaria is one of the world’s oldest, deadliest, and costliest diseases on the planet. By some accounts, it has killed more people than any other cause. Martin Edlund, CEO of Malaria No More, will talk about how the malaria community has cut deaths in half in under a decade, and how – through relentless innovation using new tools like mobile phones and big data – they hope to eradicate the disease in the next quarter century. Collective Impact - when nonprofits, governments, businesses, and the public are brought together around a common agenda to focus on a specific social problem – has been enthusiastically embraced by organizations around the world. This panel will introduce the conditions of a collective impact initiative and present the case that large-scale social change comes from better cross-sector coordination rather than from the isolated intervention of individual organizations. Then we will hear from practitioners who are currently taking a collective impact approach to create a true cradle-to-career continuum of services for youth here in Chicago. Panelists include:
